I have been born on October 24, 1940 and I am a scientist. My research initially focused on medicine and biology, but I am best known for my work in mathematics, theoretical computer science and combinatorics. I have obtained my MD in 1969. From 1968 to 1973, I have worked as a research associate and research fellow at the National Institute of Hygiene and as consulting assistant at the Center for Genetics of Hospital Saint-Louis. During this period, I develop and apply statistical methods to the analysis of various medical problems. Between 1971 and 1974, I worked as a consultant biostatistician for the World Health Organization. I now teach mathematical statistics, and mathematics applied to biology.
